Why is it that babies love playing with phones? And when you try to give them an old one, they look at you as if to ask “who are you kidding? I want the one that works”. And to think, when i was a kid, the highlight of my day was spinning the dial on those 1970s rotary phones and watching as it spun all the way back round. So it freaks me out that the average 2/3yr old is so adept at using an iPhone and I love watching as their chubby little fingers navigate their way across the screen, selecting their favourite games. How times have changed! But one thing that hasn’t changed is a child’s ability to break things. So it’s a good thing that those clever boffins at Fisher-Price have come up with a solution.
The Laugh & Learn Apptivity Case allows your baby to play with your iPhone/iTouch without being able to smash it across the floor or slobber all over it. The phone is encased in this big wheel looking thing, with a protective screen, shielding it from potential damage. You can even download free Fisher-Price Laugh & Learn apps from iTunes – which are sure to keep them occupied long enough for you to tidy up all the food that they threw across the floor at lunch.
Available on pre-order for £12.99 at Firebox.
On another note, my kids are constantly moving my folders around on my iPhone and have deleted several apps “by accident’. To stop this from happening, go into your Settings, General, Restrictions – set up a restrictions pascode and then select “off” by any item you want them to not be able to tamper with (i.e. “deleting apps”). Good luck!
